Weekday Preschool is sponsored by the Poland Presbyterian Church. It is a non-profit organization and operates as a learning readiness classroom for the preschool child, ages 3 through 5. We are licensed to have children earlier than 3 with full potty training and older than 5 if not ready for kindergarten. We are certified and licensed by the state of Ohio through Jobs and Family Services. Julie Simington is the director and lead teacher. Mary Lou Volchko is the preschool's second teacher, and Shelly Winebold serves as substitute teacher. Our school is located on the picturesque village green at 2 Poland Manor, Poland, OH 44514, inside the Poland Presbyterian Church. We house 2 large classrooms and a private bathroom. Educators have acquired an increased understanding of the young child's physical and mental/emotional/spiritual growth and also have become aware of the importance of a child's earliest years of development when they form attitudes toward themselves, people around them and their own world. These early attitudes strongly influence their behavior throughout life. Our preschool is dedicated to helping young children develop good attitudes by providing abundant love and a classroom atmosphere where they can discover more about their world and their own capabilities. Our school is happy, fun and full of experiences and ideas. We offer developmentally appropriate activities designed to meet the needs of each child at his or her particular stage of development. Our school follow "The Step Up to Quality" curriculum, using the Ohio content standards in English language arts, math, science, and social studies. Our curriculum includes socialization through free play and making choices in a large variety of things that we do daily.
